The Declaration of Independence Revisited: “We The People” Are the Militia

In light of the Edward Snowden leaks, the orchestrated attempt of the Democrats to disarm us all, and the current state of political and economic affairs in our nation, I thought it wise to share a convenient link to the text of America’s most revolutionary document for the purpose of reminding those who are monitoring our private electronic correspondence that they can lose all their power in the blink of an eye, if they are not going to honor their oaths to uphold the Constitution and fulfill their obligations to represent us (the people) and our interests (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness).
For the record, “We the People” have never wished to be their enemy, too many American values we hold dear might be lost if we go down that self-destructive path.  But ever since “they the government” have built an ever-encroaching empire, and have chosen to make us “enemies of the state,” by monitoring our every key-stroke (like a massive perverted Peeping-Tom) without Constitutional authorization (in the guise that they ignore the Constitution only for our own safety), they have crossed a fundamental “line in the sand” for which there is no likely return.  Internationally, empires such as the one America has today do not thwart terrorism, they are breeding grounds for it.
On the domestic front, they have violated our confidence on so many different levels, there is no real accountability anymore for their corrupt and tyrannical actions, and thus “We the people” must be the “check and balance” that is sorely lacking in the modern era.  For this reason, the following reforms or political actions have been proposed by various groups with varying degrees of support: 1) Term Limits; 2) Paying Congress Minimum Wage; 3) Not reelecting anyone; 4) Voting for Candidates not affiliated with either party; 5) calling a Constitutional Convention to amend the Constitution and presumably restructure the government; and 6) Impeachment. Now some of these political “solutions” are feasible, and some are “pie-in-the-sky” dreams, but all of these potential scenarios might at least bring us back from the abyss of revolution.
How did we get to this point?  The American Middle Class is like the proverbial frog in the frying pan, they waited too long to react to the elitist “flame” destroying their way of life, and now, at the very moment they are almost ready to be “devoured,” they are waking-up and realizing they and their progeny are politically and financially screwed.  The truth has been hard for some to swallow, it is difficult to accept that one’s patriotism can be abused.  I hope real change is coming, and that it will not be necessary for Americans to have their own Arab Spring, or Ukranian uprising.  But in the final analysis, according to Thomas Jefferson, when you love your country, but fear your government, freedom can no longer flourish or grow without the blood of patriots (and a perhaps a few tyrants) being spilled.  The only question at this point is what “final straw” on the part of the Federal government will likely cause a majority of Americans to jump from the frying pan and into the fire?  For all our sakes, I truly hope we never have to find out.
