Progress Takes Time, But Not All “Progress” is Positive

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither were the Banaue rice terraces. They were a natural out-cropping of population expansion near a scarce resource (the river), and now, even though they are a UNESCO World Heritage site, they are having a hard time finding people to stay in the area to farm them. Seems like everyone wants to run to the cities and try to find higher paying jobs now, but for most, all they find is over-crowded conditions, smog, pollution, and perpetual poverty.
